“ménage a trois”

Come across this French word “ménage a trois”(from Katie Perry’s T.G.I.F.). Liked the way it is pronounced – manaj a trwa (sorry, don’t know how to use the dictionary-type way of presenting a pronunciation).

Hope to use it in my, sort of “apple of the mouth” word until new word comes along (Last time was iridescent (inspired by Linkin’ Park’s song, yes it is).

So, I googled its meaning.
And to my “slight” dismay, it means “threesome” (shortest explanation).
Not explicit. Not lewd.
But inappropriate for an ordinary conversation.

But, it wouldn’t be a waste. ‘Coz I know whom I could practice to say this words.
Till next High School reunion!(“,)
Man's wants are insatiable...that is a fact. He can have everything but he still would want more.
He remains restless and unsatisfied.

So, why must he be afraid or unhappy for unfulfilled dreams, unattained goals, un-having what he wishes for or what he wants? These massive setbacks should not be an excuse for not enjoying life.

In every situation, there is the so-called "yin and yang" (good and bad).
How you view your life's drama is just a matter of perspective.

Getting bruised or battered or even shattered are so natural like a leaf falls from the tree it has attached to.
What's important is you have the courage and patience to mend your brokenness.

Life is larger than what our multi-celled brain could comprehend and imagine.
Explore. Hope. Live. Love. Without Fears

SUMMER DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN!

(Intended for the month of March post, but was too busy to visit my blog.)

It’s hot!  It’s sunny! It’s summer…
As much as I love the cold breeze of the “BER” months, I can’t help to be “sunny” when March comes.
Indeed, summer days have arrived.  In barrio like Sta.Lucia, here are the signs.
1.       It’s the season of fruits.
Watermelon, Star Apple, Sampaloc (tamarind), Mango, Pineapple. It’s like fruit-bearing trees are in full capacity production in this time of the year!
2.       Halo-halo vendor in each corner.
If there’s different variety of fruits, expect that each corner (kanto), you’ll find a Halo-halo vendor.  I’m an avid customer!
3.       New Faces and students thrive in barrio
Faces you’ve haven’t seen in months or new faces come into view on the street.  Bakasyunistas and student returnees from cities often thrive in provinces for cleaner air, maybe? (“,)
4.       Picnic at the riverside.
More people have laid out their plans for the weekends on picnics, particularly STR (Sirok ti Rangtay) or ITK (Igid ti Karayan).

Those are the most foretelling signs that summer days are here again!

SORRY

There are things that are better left unsaid… And, sometimes actions do speak louder than words.  BUT (in capital and bold letters), there are words that action simply is not enough to make its meaning.  It is not enough to simply show it, it is an utmost importance to say it.    Like “I’m sorry.”  Yet, this seems harder to say than the words I love you.  Maybe because saying sorry has a generalized meaning of admission of fault or being guilty.  Saying sorry for me does not really mean you are at fault.  You say sorry not because you are weak nor a horrible person. ..  You say sorry because intentionally or unintentionally, directly or indirectly, due to circumstances or due to natural evolution of this world, somehow a person is hurt.  But it doesn’t mean that you are the reason he was hurt.  And sometimes, even if actions have been shown how sorry a person is, saying it magnifies those deeds.  And there’s no other words that would be more powerful healer than a humble and sincere SORRY.

GOD BLESS JAPAN!

I was reading the streamlined news of the CNN about the earthquake and the quake-triggered tsunami that struck Japan last Friday.  I couldn’t help to be teary eyed as survivors retold their stories how they clung to their dear life with whatever thing they could grab out from nowhere.   I couldn’t contain the anguish within me as they recounted how they saw their wives, brothers, sisters, children, friends mercilessly swept away by the gigantic numerous waves and strong current of rushing seawater.
Sometime in July 1990, Northern Philippines was also struck by a strong earthquake.  I was still in Grade school then.   It happened late in the afternoon and were still in school.  I remembered the frightened faces of parents as they rush in our school to get their children.  That night, my family and I slept at the sala and I remembered how I trembled in fright as our house shook up due to aftershocks.  If that was been so dreadful and frightening, I couldn’t imagine the terror the Japanese people had felt, how  frightened they had been as the ground shook up and solidly built buildings and various infrastructures crumbled around them.  Imagine how some may not have recovered yet from the terror they’ve encountered from the earthquake, here comes the wailing of a siren signalling another catastrophic tsunami coming.  I couldn’t comprehend that scenario, that ordeal, that struggle of survival, that dilemma of how will you protect yourself and your family of these almost concurring events.  As if those tragedy were not enough, here comes the fear of a nuclear meltdown, the fear of nuclear contamination.  I couldn't grasp the devastation they may feel right now.    I am as devastated as the after-picture of the affected areas is.
I am too small individual, too ordinary person to help.  But I offer my prayers to these people.  AS much as it looked like God abandoned Japan, I don’t think that is the truth.  I see God in the accounts of the survivors.  I see God in the form of a floor mat, of a tree, of a roof, of a helping stranger, of a united nations joining forces to help them...I see Him everywhere.  Yes, even if I can’t help, I know my God can.  That’s why I offer my prayers to them.  It may sound like a joke, but I’ll trade my one month blessings for God to give these people HOPE and COURAGE and COMFORT in this time of loss, grief, and confusion.  God bless Japan!

SHE SAID, HE SAID…

SHE said,
“I just want you to know that I still love you but I’m not sure if we’re compatible enough to make that love lasts.”
HE said,
“You know that I love you so much…and I will make it compatible to make it lasts.”

(Awwwww……sigh! I'm inlove! k:)

Sister to Sister Letter

Dear Big Sister,

How are you?
You’ve been away for a while.
I’ve visited your FB recently.
You’ve been everywhere.
I guess you are living life to the fullest.
I’m so happy for you.
We are so happy you look so great.
But when are you coming back?
Haven’t you missed the warmth of a family?
Haven’t you missed the care of Mom?
I do understand that Mom cares differently, sometimes in irritating way.
With all the naggings and the drama that went with it,
Sometimes it’s hard not to say things we regret later.
And the fact that she’s so sensitive, I know, that’s overbearing.
But, aren’t we all overbearing too at some point?
That was times two for her considering there’s the two of us.
Aren’t we so selfish not to show at least a little patience?
She’s not a perfect mom but she is still the best.
She’s the perfect Mom for two sisters like us.
I believe you think it so too.
‘Coz she’s been there for you, for me, and for the whole family.
She would give up everything for you.
Anything that would make you happy.
Would you do the same for her?
I would.  And I hope I could give her the best.
Just like as she gave her best for us.
We were so lucky, we need not to work as hard as anybody else to finish school.
‘Coz Mom and Dad worked hard for that.
Our worry is just to pass the exams and graduate.
And now, we still not need to work as hard as anybody else to support our family.
‘Coz we know Mom and Dad can take care of themselves financially.
But hey, it doesn’t mean they can be all by themselves.
Wasn’t it our dream to give them the best retirement life they could?
To pamper them, to give them little luxury we could offer?
To be of little sensitive of their wants and needs.
It’s not our obligation to do that.
I don’t feel obligated.  But for me, it feels so rewarding
For them to see me as a fruit of their fulfilled dreams.
We are their dreams.
I hope they could reap the best fruit from us.
So, when are you coming home?

Your little sister

A LOVE STORY THAT NEVER WAS

(I  found this poem I’ve written back in college days.  It was scrawled at the back of my columnar notebook*, in all fairness, haha! I guess this was written when I realized the person I want to be with had found “someone” else (sigh!).  It was untitled though. ..)

I yearn for the little moments with you I had
Laughing and teasing, such a nonsense act!
Yet it made me sad to realize
That these were now just a blur
A forgotten memory of a young love
I never had the courage to say I love you
‘Coz I’ve kept my feelings all by myself
Waiting for the right time to say out loud
But I guess fate has other plans
It led you into someone else’s
Now, here I am still wondering
How it would feel
To be in your arms, holding me close
Dreaming together, waiting for tomorrow.
IT wasn’t meant to be, I know
For my chances have been gone ages ago.

Miss Gay Q & A

December 26, 2010

It’s Christmas in the barrio! As usual, aside from the Christmas program held for the barangay people, purok fiestas slash Christmas program is expected to proceed after.  First to hold their purok fiesta slash Christmas program is Purok IV, our neighboring purok.  Hearing the crowd laughter echoing through the loud sound system, I got curious and decided to take a peep on what’s happening.  Luckily, I chanced to get on time to see the question and answer of their search for Little Miss Gay.
Here’s one funny Q&A:
Emcee:  Kung nakita mo yung ka-klase mo na nangongopya, ano ang gagawin mo?  Isusumbong mo ba o papabayaan mo?
Candidate No. 1: Isusumbong.
Emcee: Bakit mo isusumbong?
Candidate No. 1: Kasi nangongopya. (It makes sense noh?hehe!)

(the second candidate was called)
Emcee: Sino ang paborito mong bayani? Bakit?
Candidate No. 2: PIOLO! (toinks! The crowd went wild with laughter)
Emcee: Hindi artista, bayani.
Candidate: Bayani Agbayani! (toinks ulit!)
Emcee: (Already resigned of pointing the question) Bakit?
Candidate No. 2: KAsi magaling siya. (It really makes sense people!hehehe!)

A showtimer Kid!

My nephew is a two-year and four-months old…He’s adorable and he always have surprises to say or do.  I say surprises because sometimes he say or do things no one taught him.  He learned it by himself.
One tim while we were watching the prime time news, President Noynoy was flashed on the TV while he was answering some issues during a press conference.  My nephew pointed to the TV screen and said to her mother, “Pnoy, Mommy!”  Delighted by her comment, her Mommy told him, “Yes, anak that’s Pnoy, he is our President.”  And taking that moment to teach him, she asked, “Sino ang President natin?”.  My nephew said, “Pnoy, Mommy!”  Then again wanting to teach him some more, she asked, “e sino ang Vice?”  As immediately as her Mommy said the last word and with no hesitation, he blurted out “Ganda!”   (Vice Ganda!)
Hahahaha! He is a showtimer indeed!

Batchmates slash classmates slash friends!

I get the chance to bond with my high school classmates and batchmates this past December.    Many are called but only few have come,(“,), and guess what’s not so surprising? Attandance was dominated by the singles! The beautiful singles to be exact! (nyan!) Nonetheless, there were new old faces who attended the said Christmas party  like Rhianna, Jensen and Michelle.   The party was pretty full of talks and laughters, and of course, telltales!  And as usual the subjects are the “non-attendees”! !(hmmm…) hehehe! so, better not miss any class party slash reunion slash gathering, guys!
But there’s one thing I admire our batch slash class for.  We have changed so much but we actually didn’t so much! Confusing? O well, let me say it this way.  Sometimes, no matter how grown up people are, when they meet up with people whom they had their childhood or teen years, they tend to still act like as if those years were just like yesterday.  Even how changed people are, or how prestigious their positions or the company they work for at the moment, you still can’t help to consider them the way they used to be.  Or you can’t help to treat them the way you used to treat them.  Though, you don’t picture yourselves as bunch of high school teens, unknowingly, you still act the same.  You still think you can pull off some prank jokes  or throw some off remarks, and you know they will not hold grudges (or maybe a little,(“,)) for that.  It is in this moment that you become no one… no achievements, no titles…it is just what you were as a person that these teen-years-friends see.  They see you as unchanged person.  And I meant it in a good way.  Because sometimes, our career lives are entwined with formalities and rules that it feels so constricting and stressful.  So, it is a breather to be with people you can be informal with, goofy, wacky, clumsy (but in a responsible manner)… just become carefree for once … Just have fun! Laugh your heart out!  And you can still say to your friend slash classmate slash now turned a General maybe, who throws a nasty joke, “Whatever, Freak! Are you enjoying?!”
And these are my classmates slash batchmates slash my friends!

Kwentong Baboy! (the Pig’s “Tale”)

Our office had our Christmas Party last December 13, 2010.  Auditors and their staff were all on their festive mood upon the start of the parlor games.  One of my favorite is the “IPOS ti BABOY” (pig’s tail) game.  The mechanics are simple.  One, the contestants have to answer all the questions with a phrase “IPOS ti BABOY”, and  two, to remain passive or unsmiling.  So, simple, right? Yeah, right!  But how could anyone refrain from smiling or laughing if the interrogation goes like this…
1.       Anya sidam tattay bigat?             Ans: IPOS ti BABOY
2.       Anya ti iggamam nu umisbo ka? Ans: IPOS ti BABOY
3.       Anya karkarupam?         Ans: IPOS ti BABOY
4.       Anya karkarupa ni inang/tatang mo? Ans: IPOS ti BABOY
5.       Anya ti ap-aprosam tapnu makaturog ka?  Ans: IPOS ti BABOY
6.       Sino kaiddam nga maturog?  Ans: IPOS ti BABOY
7.       Anya ti mangparpargsak kanyam nu naliday ka? Ans: IPOS ti BABOY
8.       Anya nga parte ti kaykayat mo kenni lakay/baket mo? Ans: IPOS ti BABOY
9.       Anya ti umuna nga i-kiss mo nu makitam ni baket/lakay mo? Ans: IPOS ti BABOY
10.   Anya ti kawkawilam iti rabii? Ans: IPOS ti BABOY
HAHAHA!  Easier said than done huh…

CHRISTMAS NOSTALGIA

As Christmas is fast approaching, so is my mind from wandering to one past Christmas to another.  And I can’t help being nostalgic about it.  Here are what I miss most…
1.       Going out from house to house with my friends after 12 o’clock…
Drawn to different career paths and different priorities now, my friends have stopped going to our house.  We seldom see each other now (Mylyn, Ruvelma, Mng. Lino and other elementary friends) much more to meet after 12 a.m. on Christmas day to do some house hopping to savor each delicious food prepared in each others house. :c

2.       Buying some gifts with my friends in COA-Bagabag
Though being contractual in COA-Bagabag equates to meager bonus, we still so look forward to it.  Just upon receiving it, we would immediately go to Caringal Store or in  Solano to buy some groceries and gifts for the Christmas as if we have lots of money to spend with.(“,)  I miss the company of Ate Julie, Gem and Kuya Gerald (though he’s not with us when we are on our buying spree).  They are the few people I have really bonded in the real-est and truest sense.  The memories we had are priceless and “the best joke of the century”, ‘coz we really had funny moments together!  Love you guys and I miss spending Christmas with you!

3.      Spending Christmas as one WHOLE family
This one is what I miss the most.  Since I could remember, until my sister went to Florida to work, we spend Christmas all together - my Dad, my Mom, my Ate, my Kuya, me and on the later years my Ading.  We were not allowed to go out on Christmas eve so we were together when 12 o’clock strikes.  We don’t do anything special or partying, we would just hug one another, kiss and say “Merry Christmas!” just as the clock had turned 12 o’clock.   Then we eat…Just like that.  But I sooo miss having this moment.  Just knowing they are there and seeing them so near are so comforting and so meaningful for me.  And I don’t know when will this moment happen again… sigh! :’c

The SUNSET

THE SUNSET…

Most of us love sunsets… and I’m one of them…
But I’ve known few who don’t enjoy so much.  Maybe because sunset  brings a somber mood and has a way of making you lonelier three times over.  Sunset effectively magnifies your current emotions, usually or specially when you are sad, guilty of something, problematic, or even when in-love.   With all the shades of yellow, orange and red changing overhead and with the warm air submitting to the windy and colder breeze of a nearing nightfall, it is inevitable to feel that way.  Sigh!
But for me, I’m always awed by how glorious it looked.  At times, as I look at the setting sun, my thoughts race to where my life had been and where I am.  As much as it gives me shame, guilt and regret for the mistakes I’ve done, I become hopeful, renewed, and mostly appreciative life has offered me.  As the rays of the sun stretch through the clouds, and as shade of crimson red (or yellow and orange sometimes) diffused over the expanse of the sky, I have this funny imagination that God is literally behind the clouds, looking over the world.   It is in this moment that I never doubted the existence of God.  I’m always thinking He’s closest to the world during this glorious phenomenon, the setting of the sun.
This is maybe the reason why I always wanted to capture each sunset everywhere I travel, a subconscious personal attestation that God is everywhere I am.
So, wherever you are, look over the horizon, you might catch a glimpse of the gloriousness of the setting sun!

CROSSROAD!

(This was written two years ago.)

With so much laid down before me
Where to go
Where not to go
I can’t seem to know
With so much options
With so much choices
Should I chase my dreams?
Should I be a maverick of change?
Or should just I succumb to my uncomplicated world?
I have what I want
Yet, i don’t have what I really want
But I could be someone they would want
So, what would I be?
This is a crossroad
Am i blessed?
Or is this a curse?
Which way to go
I don’t seem to know!
